Windows Shortcuts

Here are some Windows shortcuts using the Windows key on your keyboard.

WINDOWS:

Display the Start menu.

WINDOWS+D:

Minimize or restore all windows.

WINDOWS+E:

Display Windows Explorer.

WINDOWS+TAB:

Cycle through buttons on the taskbar.

WINDOWS+F:

Display Find: All Files.

WINDOWS+F1:

Display Help.

WINDOWS+R:

Display the Run command.

WINDOWS+BREAK:

Display the System Properties dialog box.

SHIFT+WINDOWS+M:

Undo minimize all windows.

  Other useful keyboard shortcuts include:

CTRL+F4:

Close the current window in (MDI*) programs such as Word or Excel.

ALT+F4:

Close the current window or quit a program.

ALT+SPACEBAR:

Display the current window's system menu.

SHIFT+F10:

Display the shortcut menu for the selected item.

CTRL+ESC:

Display the Start menu.

ALT+HYPHEN:

Display the system menu for MDI* programs such as Word or Excel.

CTRL+V:

Paste.

ALT+TAB:

Switch to another window by holding down ALT while repeatedly pressing TAB.

*Short for Multiple Document Interface, a Windows Application Program Interface (API) that enables programmers to easily create applications with multiple windows. Each MDI application has a single main window, and any number of child windows. All child windows are displayed within the main window.
