Internet Explorer keyboard shortcuts

Don't touch that mouse!  You can use these great keyboard shortcuts for speedy Web surfing instead.  You can do most mouse operations while surfing with keyboard shortcuts.  This generally speeds things up.  Here's a list of keyboard shortcuts for Internet Explorer categorized by viewing and exploring, using print preview, using the address bar, working with favorites, and editing:

Viewing and exploring Web pages

  To do this Press this
1 Display Internet Explorer Help, or when in a dialog box, display context Help on an item. F1
2 Toggle between full-screen and regular views of the browser window. F11
3 Move forward through the items on a Web page, the Address bar, and the Links bar. TAB
4 Move back through the items on a Web page, the Address bar, and the Links bar. SHIFT+TAB
5 Go to your Home page. ALT+HOME
6 Go to the next page. ALT+RIGHT ARROW
7 Go to the previous page. ALT+LEFT ARROW or
BACKSPACE
8 Display a shortcut menu for a link. SHIFT+F10
9 Move forward between frames. CTRL+TAB or
F6
10 Move back between frames. SHIFT+CTRL+TAB
11 Scroll toward the beginning of a document. UP ARROW
12 Scroll toward the end of a document. DOWN ARROW
13 Scroll toward the beginning of a document in larger increments. PAGE UP
14 Scroll toward the end of a document in larger increments. PAGE DOWN
15 Move to the beginning of a document. HOME
16 Move to the end of a document. END
17 Find on this page. CTRL+F
18 Refresh the current Web page. F5 or
CTRL+R
19 Refresh the current Web page, even if the time stamp for the Web version and your locally stored version are the same. CTRL+F5
20 Stop downloading a page. ESC
21 Go to a new location. CTRL+O or
CTRL+L
22 Open a new window. CTRL+N
23 Close the current window. CTRL+W
24 Save the current page. CTRL+S
25 Print the current page or active frame. CTRL+P
26 Activate a selected link. ENTER
27 Open the Search bar. CTRL+E
28 Open the Favorites bar. CTRL+I
29 Open the History bar. CTRL+H
30 In the History or Favorites bars, open multiple folders. CTRL+click

Using Print Preview

  To do this Press this
31 Set printing options and print the page. ALT+P
32 Change paper, headers and footers, orientation, and margins for this page. ALT+U
33 Display the first page to be printed. ALT+HOME
34 Display the previous page to be printed. ALT+LEFT ARROW
35 Type the number of the page you want displayed. ALT+A
36 Display the next page to be printed. ALT+RIGHT ARROW
37 Display the last page to be printed. ALT+END
38 Zoom out. ALT+MINUS
39 Zoom in. ALT+PLUS
40 Display a list of zoom percentages. ALT+Z
41 Close Print Preview. ALT+C

Using the Address bar

  To do this Press this
42 Select the text in the Address bar. ALT+D
43 Display a list of addresses you've typed. F4
44 When in the Address bar, move the cursor left to the next logical break in the address (period or slash). CTRL+LEFT ARROW
45 When in the Address bar, move the cursor right to the next logical break in the address (period or slash). CTRL+RIGHT ARROW
46 Add "www." to the beginning and ".com" to the end of the text typed in the Address bar. CTRL+ENTER
47 Move forward through the list of AutoComplete matches. UP ARROW
48 Move back through the list of AutoComplete matches. DOWN ARROW

Working with favorites

  To do this Press this
49 Add the current page to your favorites. CTRL+D
50 Open the Organize Favorites dialog box. CTRL+B
51 Move selected item up in the Favorites list in the Organize Favorites dialog box. ALT+UP ARROW
52 Move selected item down in the Favorites list in the Organize Favorites dialog box. ALT+DOWN ARROW

Editing

  To do this Press this
53 Remove the selected items and copy them to the Clipboard. CTRL+X
54 Copy the selected items to the Clipboard. CTRL+C
55 Insert the contents of the Clipboard at the selected location. CTRL+V
56 Select all items on the current Web page. CTRL+A
