Process: Using Microsoft PowerPoint, create seven (7) slides: a Title slide as well as a slide for each of your five elements that your teacher assigns to you, and an ending slide.
Project Organization:
Have the physical properties of each of your five elements ready to place in your presentation. They will include: solid, liquid or gas; the symbol; whether it is a metal or non-metal; and the group and period in which each of your elements is found.
Make sure you use the proper spelling of each of your elements. Also bring your assignment notebook which contains the periodic table for easy reference.
Then start PowerPoint and follow the detailed instructions below.
How to start:
20 Common Elements – Save your show under “The Elements – your name” in the “The Elements” folder on your desktop or on your disk. SAVE FREQUENTLY!
To copy and paste text:
To copy – highlight the text you wish to copy, then use Ctrl + C on the keyboard to copy to the clipboard
To paste – place your insertion point on the slide where you want to paste, then use Ctrl + V on the keyboard
To copy a picture from the Internet:
Right-click on the picture and choose Save Image As.
The Save As dialog box opens.
Choose 3 1/2 floppy A: from the Save in drop down box, then double-click on the your folder.
In the File Name box, choose to leave the name the same or give it a new name. Then click Save or press Enter.
You can then use the Insert/Picture/From File command in PowerPoint to insert the picture into your presentation.
Keep
these things in mind when creating your PowerPoint presentation:
v Keep it short. You will have a title slide in addition to one slide for each of your five elements in addition to an ending slide.
v
Save your presentation in
a new folder on your floppy disk. Name
the folder Your Name.
v
Be concise – too much
information on a slide will bore your audience.
Only list the main points you are trying to make.
You can elaborate when you give your presentation.
v
Use special effects only
when they will enhance your presentation. They
can be too distracting to your audience.
v
Copy any and all graphics
(pictures) and sounds (music) into your folder where you saved your presentation and insert them
into PowerPoint from that folder. This
means that you will have to plan ahead.
