Use the Internet to find some very interesting things about yourself!

Download this worksheet to print out and write down your answers or to copy and paste the information into Microsoft Word.

  1. The Day You Were Born!
    This Day In History
    Discover other events that have taken place on your birthday.  
        - Write down the month and the day you were born.  
        - Click on the History Channel link and find out what events happened on your birthday.  
        - Then scroll down and write down the name of two famous people born on your birthday.  
        - Name a hit song that was popular on your birthday.  Give the year and the artist.

    Look at the Etymology of Names web site to find out what your name means.

  3. Where Can Your Surname Be Found?
    U.S. Surname Distribution
    Your surname is your last name.  Go to this site and type in your last name.  Try it for two different dates.

Check out the Yahoo People Search web page to see if your phone number and/or address are listed:
    - Are there other people who have the same name as you? How many? Others with the same last name?
    - Try it also with AnyWho and try the Reverse Lookup feature to find someone if you know, for instance, their phone number, but don't know their address.

    Using one of the above websites find the following:
        - How far is it to your destination?      
        - Cost? 

         Gas Mileage?  

                    Miles per gallon calculator?



    - What are the instructions for getting to your destination?  Abbreviate as much as possible.
    - Do a search for your destination using one of the following sites to find things to do on your trip:
        - Lonely Planet - Destinations
        - The World Factbook - Country Listing
    - Some of the attractions I would like to visit are _________.
    - Check to find the cost of airline tickets to your destination using one of these sites: 
        - Expedia
        - Travelocity
    - Find the weather forecast for the area you will be visiting:  The Weather Channel
    - Find the flag for the country you wish to visit:  Flags of All Countries
