Students will create a newsletter featuring their original poetry as well as topical information important to them and their academic lifestyle.
Download a newsletter template from the Microsoft Template Gallery.
Preview the templates first, then choose from one of five templates or choose the Newsletter Wizard which will walk you through the steps necessary to create a newsletter in Microsoft Word 2000.
Your poem will be the Feature Article in your newsletter. Introduce yourself in a few sentences and tell your readers why you decided to write about the topic you chose. Then, type your poem into the newsletter template - just replace the text with your own by highlighting the text and typing over it with your own
Some templates will use text boxes - be careful, some of these may adjust size unexpectedly
Add your own graphics by using the Microsoft Clip Gallery - Insert/Picture/Clip Art/Clips Online to replace the graphic included with the newsletter template - use graphics that help attract your readers' attention and that help convey the meaning of your poem
Continue typing articles in your newsletter that pertain to forthcoming events at school composing as you work
